Explanation

Why Scientist Test The Temperature Of Water

By James, Jack and Noah.

Temperature is how hot or cold something is or feels. People may think that water temperature means nothing but is there more to water temperature than you think? Water temperature plays key roles in water quality and wildlife habitats and chemical and biological reactions.Greens stir up dirty water issue | Stuff.co.nz

How To Test Temperature

First you need to measure the temperature of the air because if you put the thermometer into the water and just bring it back out the evaporation will cool and will cause the air temperature to be lower than the reality. What professionals recommend you to do is take the thermometer out, the thermometer will probably need a minute or two to adjust. You need to hold the thermometer up in a shaded area, let it sit there for a minute. Once you have your air temperature you need to go to the stream and put the thermometer into the water for a minute, let it balance with the water temperature and then bring it out as fast as you can and read the thermometer.

How Water Can Change With The Temperature

When water temperature is chilled the water molecules start to lose energy and slow down. Molecules also move closer together reducing the water volume. If the water is heated the molecules move further apart and that results in more volume. When water increases in volume it becomes more dense.

How water temperature affects humans

The ocean temperature rising is atrocious. When water warms up expansion occurs combined with melting water glaciers on land. The rising sea threatens natural ecosystems and human structures near coastlines around the world. If water gets cold enough the water turns into ice. When the ice eventually melts, nutrition’s contain run into the ocean and fertilize local algal blooms. That’s how water temperatures affect humans.

The Chemical and Biological Reactions

The temperature influences biological activity and growth. Temperature influences biological activity and growth. Temperature governs the organisms that live in lakes, streams and rivers like fish, insects, Zooplankton, Phytoplankton and other aquatic organisms. All of these have preferred temperatures. If that temperature rises too high or drops too low that the temperature is out of range from the preferred temperature the numbers of life in that area will start to decline until there are none. Free Images : underwater, fauna, coral reef, invertebrate, aquarium, or, habitat, organism, anemone fish, sea anemone, natural environment, marine biology, coral reef fish, pomacentridae 2480x1653 - - 595862 - Free stock photos - PxHere

How Water Temperature Affects Wildlife Habitats

Warm water holds less dissolved oxygen than cold water, and the water might not hold enough dissolved oxygen.

Oxygen is important because fish take in dissolved oxygen through their gills and depend on that dissolved oxygen to live.  If there is not enough oxygen in the water the fish will suffocate. Although there is a way to test if there is enough oxygen in the water other than the fish in the water swimming frantically or gasping for breath at the top.

Conclusion

In conclusion water temperature affects so much like The Water Cycle/how water changes with temperature, how humans are affected by water temperature, chemical and biological reactions and how wildlife habitats are affected. Water temperature changes daily and/or seasonally and every animal (including humans) has a preferred temperature. If you were to jump into a lake and the lake was cold you would instantly swim to the top or even get out. Water temperatures affect almost everything in the water. These are all the reasons why scientists check water temperatures all around the world.

A guaranteed endless supply of fabulous super duper hanko danko, best in space oxegen ever, so that I can breathe
In case Cattopia hasn’t an atmosphere I can breathe in.   Evil Cat Deterrent for the mean weird scary, ugly, fat, spider-man, murderer cats.  For keeping them away.

In case they go on a rampage.

A astronautical ice suit for the super hot temperatures of 1234567 Degrees sometimes instead of ice, liquid nitrogen. For keeping myself cool.
In case I get hot.

A Stihl Super duper Omega MS 170

THE TOKI POUNAMU FILM FESTIVAL

Toki Pounamu
FILM FESTIVAL
Today the senior school went to the regent
theatre to watch the Toki Pounamu film
festival. The toki pounamu film festival is
where lots of west coast schools make short
2-3 minute films about a certain topic .This
year the topic was ‘our place’. later on lots
of schools on the west coast that have made
films come together and watch through
most of the films.

My personal favourate film of them all was
the Crime Report film. I enjoyed the film
because it was really unique. They have
used lots of cool visual effects, like slo-mo
for when they were chasing the bank robber.
It had really  good transitions. They put a lot
of effort into making this film, it would have
taken them quite a while to get all of that
done.
There was a lot of editing for this film like
having the scene change subtitle ‘meanwhile’.
This is a really good film and a lot of work
has gone into it and there is not much that
they need to improve on but when they are
chasing the robber i think that they could
use less slo-mo and that they could put
some more effort into acting out the scene.
But for this being their first time making
a movie it was really good.

Thank you for reading this film review on
the….

Huhu Beetle Information Report!!

We have been learning about 'minibeasts' in class as part of science. We have been creating information report on a minibeast of our own choice. The minibeast that we wrote about had to live in NZ. Here is my writing that I worked on with Kade.

If I Had Wings

For the past few weeks we have been doing poetry. This weeks task was a poem about If I Had Wings... First we had to answer some questions and then we had to colour in the piece of paper with the poem. Last of all we had to write our own If I Had Wings poem. We had to use sticky
( interesting ) language, use the five senses and use interesting verbs and nouns. Here is my poem.
